Focus:  Disinformation awareness, community resilience
Target areas:
Rural and consolidated communities

About the Project
Information Resilience in Rural Communities was implemented by ABCD Innovation Center in 2019 to address the vulnerability of rural communities to misinformation and low access to reliable information.

The project applied participatory and inclusive methodologies to support rural residents, youth, and community actors in developing basic media literacy skills and a stronger awareness of information integrity—without political affiliation or partisan positioning.

Rather than focusing on specific political actors or campaigns, the project emphasized media literacy as a core life skill, closely linked to community cohesion, trust, and responsible participation in public life.

Main areas of work included:

  • Community discussions on information sources and trust
  • Awareness activities on misinformation and its social impact
  • Collaboration with local CSOs, educators, and community leaders
  • Development of accessible learning materials adapted to rural contexts

Guiding principles:

  • Neutrality and non-partisanship
  • Transparency and ethical communication
  • Inclusion of vulnerable and underrepresented groups

Key outcome:
Communities strengthened their capacity to navigate information critically and reduce the spread of harmful or misleading narratives.
