Power to the people

ABCD Innovation Center

The main goal of the project was to increase the knowledge of NGO executives on youth challenges and innovative methods to use. The results were disseminated among NGO members through follow-up sessions.

The objectives of the project were:
- to raise awareness about hate speech on-line and the risks it has for fueling the conflicts and individual young people;
- to develop the skills and motivation for young people to recognize on-line hate speech and to become ‘on-line activists’
for human rights;

- to equip young people and youth organizations with tools to combat hate speech on-line;

ABCD Innovation Center has been working for several years on the issues of accessing cultural activities, notably for youth from rural areas. Around the youth services, there is a network of circus artists and show technicians who regularly organise some events about performing arts in the area.
Unfortunately, these evenings are not attended by many youngsters. Furthermore, small portion of artistic practices for amateurs (circus, theater, singing, acrobatics etc.) are made for the youth.
Observing this difficulty of mobilizing youth for performing arts, the lack of offerings from amateur practices and requests from the population, ABCD Innovation Center and its French partner have decided to set up a dedicated stay of a practicing amateur circus, aiming at the adolescent public, in the area of Val de Creuse Val d’Anglin.

The overall aim of the Training Course was to increase the awareness of personal strengths and authenticity among youth workers during a personal journey of self-discovery. From this
individual reflection, participants took the active step of commitment with each other by sharing and experiencing. Participants were stimulated to support the young people they work with and to guide them in their learning process as full, authentic persons.

“Heritage Hunters” was a 7-day seminar to promote cultural heritage among youth through innovative and artistic activities. The seminar brought together 28 youth sector managers/facilitators/coordinators/experts from the UK, Denmark, Armenia, Romania, Turkey, Moldova, Azerbaijan, Ukraine.. The seminar took place between the 27th of April and 5th May 2017 in UK.
